A new anti-obesity drug is hitting the market today (Tuesday), it's called Belviq. The drug will be made available to certain patients with a prescription.

Patients who are overweight with at least one weight-related medical condition, like high cholesterol, are eligible.

Belviq was developed for more than a decade ago and was not approved by the FDA at first. It's availability was also delayed because the drug has a low potential for abuse and needed a DEA classification.
