Firefighters responded to a house fire in the 9300 block of Montmartre Dr. at 7:23 a.m. Sunday.

According to the El Paso Fire Department, the fire started in the garage of the home.  The flames spread to a pickup parked inside the garage.  There was also extensive smoke damage to the rest of the two story home.

A neighbor saw the flames and alerted Jesus Acevedo and his wife who were inside.  No one was injured.

"I'm just sorry that it happened this day, I guess any day, but the most important thing is that we're still alive because it was just fast," said Acevedo.

Acevedo and his wife will not be able to live in the home for at least two months.  They have homeowner's insurance and have contacted their insurance company.  They have arranged to live with family.

Damages are estimated at $50,000.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
