NBC: Only 3 Remain in Finals of 'The Voice'

Wednesday, December 12, 2012 - 12:48pm

The trio of finalists is now set for next week's final round of "The Voice".

The show said goodbye to one of its final four Tuesday night.

The drama lasted into the closing credits.

Nicholas David, the soulful singer from Egan, Minnesota earned the last spot in next week's finale.

Getting that third and final spot meant David's "Team Cee Lo" colleague, 18-year-old Trevin Hunte was eliminated.

"We've become like brothers. It was just hard to know it was one or the other. That was nerve wracking in itself," David said.

"I'm happy and excited that this weight has been lifted off me and I get a chance to see my big brother, you know, actually get an opportunity to actually win this thing," Hunte added.

Earlier in the night, both of Blake Shelton's singers advanced, starting with the rocker from Aberdeen, Scotland, Terry McDermott.

He scored Monday night with his rendition of the Beatles classic "Let It Be".

Minutes after McDermott gained his spot in the finals Cassadee Pope, the only female left in the competition, secured her position.

She also hit number one on tuesday's iTunes chart.

Each time all of us takes the stage, it's just an emotional rollercoaster ride. And I know the audience connects that," Pope said.

For Pope, Terry McDermott and Nicholas David, that ride continues for at least one more week.

All three of the finalists will sing next Monday in a 90 minute performance show, and the winner will be announced during the two hour finale next Tuesday night.
