El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — Update:
Araceli Nava was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine after being found guilty of manslaughter in court on Monday.
An El Paso jury Wednesday found a 29 year old woman guilty of manslaughter.
Araceli Nava will be sentenced on Thursday. A jury reached their decision Wednesday afternoon after a night of being sequestered.
Nava drove home after a long night of drinking in August of 2009 and hit and killed 47 year-old Gustavo Vega. The Horizon man was riding his bike at the time.
Investigators say Nava was drunk at the time and had fallen asleep behind the wheel after getting lost. Vega died at the scene.
The punishment phase of the trial will begin Thursday morning. She's facing up to 20 years behind bars.
Nava was also charged with intoxicated manslaughter but was not convicted on that charge. That charge would have possibly resulted in more jail time.
