National parks facing big cuts
EL PASO — National parks will face severe cuts if congress doesn't meet its March 1st budget deadline, although it's not clear how parks such as Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Park would fare.
One thing is certain: both parks could be forced to make cuts ranging from $200,000 to $400,000. A national parks memo released this week says many campgrounds and visitor centers would close. Hundreds of employees would also be furloughed for more than a month.
