But Some Say Troops Power Is Too Limited
Texas Governor Rick Perry wants 1000 more National Guard troops on the Texas Border.
He's asking the federal government to pay for the plan and waiting for approval.
The troops would back up the border patrol in a limited role, providing assistance with administrative and surveillance work.
One expert says that role would be too limited to do any good and wants the National Guard to have capabilities to make arrests and pursue threats on the border.
