"Name the Team" contest ends Friday
EL PASO, TX (KTSM) — El Pasoans who have not yet submitted their name ideas for El Paso's Triple-A team are encouraged to do so before the entry period closes at midnight May 24, organizers said.
Name ideas can be submitted by logging on to www.elpasotriplea.com/nametheteam.
"We want to make sure everyone in the community has the chance to have his or her voice heard in naming your Triple-A team, and encourage anyone who hasn't already to submit his or her idea," said Alan Ledford, President of MountainStar Sports Group.
The Name the Team contest will be followed by voting in early June, where the top names will be voted on by the public. The winning name will be announced in mid-August. Officials said the person who submits the winning name will win an exciting grand prize, to include the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day in the new El Paso Ballpark, two field-level season tickets for the 2014 season, and a personalized jersey.
Some contest ground rules: you must be 18 to enter and you can only enter a name once. Kids are encouraged to participate, and can do so with the help of a parent or guardian.
