Naked man chases family at Houston park
Houston, TX (CNN/KPRC) — A naked man terrorized a family trying to have a picnic at a park in Houston.
The cell phone video is only a few seconds long, but it gives you a sense of the chaos that unfolded at Hermann Park on Sunday.
"He was running, like full speed," explains, Sommer Rios who was having a picnic at the park with her husband and kids, when she says the man came out of nowhere.
"Then he started taking his clothes off one item at a time and he just got completely naked," Rios said.
The worst part for Rios is the man chased after her four-year-old son.
To get away, he ran out into the middle of a busy street.
"My worst fear was him getting hit. I kept screaming for him to come back as I was running towards him," Rios said.
An off duty officer and another man at the park helped tackle the naked guy and get him under control.
He was taken to the hospital.
Rios hopes their next trip to the park is much quieter, and she hopes police take what he did seriously.
"There were thousands of kids out there and they don't need to see nothing like that," Rios said.
The family says the naked man also ran after another woman who was in the park; he punched her and pushed her down to the ground before police got him.
Houston police say the man may have taken some narcotics. His case will likely be referred to the mental health division.
