EL PASO - El Paso County leaders were hoping you would enjoy the next Music Under the Stars at Ascarate Park instead of the Chamizal, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
Attendance for Music Under the Stars dropped after the national park said it didn't want people drinking there anymore. That's when the city entertained the idea of moving it, and the county jumped in to offer Ascarate Park.
This week, the city sent a letter to the county telling them they're sticking with the Chamizal.
City employees say they're working with the national park to consider using alcohol vendors instead of allowing people to bring beer

When is the Leadership of the City (Mayor, Council, City Manager & her staff) going to understand that a truly family geared or friendly event does not need alcohol. We say that people should not drink & drive but then we have alcohol sales or allow alcohol to be brought into those events. Unless the event is within walking distance, then how are families supposed to get there = by driving, & then the city wants them to be able to drink alcohol. Lord PLEASE Save us from these misguided folks!
