EL PASO — MountainStar Sports Group announced Wednesday that "everything was moving quickly" regarding the legal, technical and administrative matters pertaining to the Triple A team purchase of the Tucson Padres. 

They said the process was moving in a positive direction after City Council's decision last Tuesday to approve plans for a downtown ballpark in El Paso. On the same date, the group said they signed a Franchise Purchase Agreement, which obligates MountainStar to buy the team.

If all goes as planned, the city will be cheering for the Tucson Padres as early as 2014.
