Motorcyclist Fights Life Threatening Injuries in Fiery Accident

A motorcyclist traveling southbound on Montana Street was hit by a car attempting to cross Oasis late Tuesday evening. The 19-year-old driver of the bike was hit, the bike burst into flames, and he also caught fire right before being thrown off the bike.

Police say they don't know if the woman driving the car failed to yield for the motorcyclist but they do say the 19-year-old was most likely speeding.

The woman and the teenager in the other vehicle were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries. Witnesses who saw the frightening scene tells News Channel 9 she attempted to put out the fire with her sweater.

The identity of all of those involved have not been released. The motorcyclists suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to the Lubbock Burn Center.
