The mother of a little girl who was hit by a vehicle at Marguerite J. Lundy Elementary School last week is speaking out, saying her child was not just "tapped."

The El Paso Independent School district told NewsChannel 9 that the child ran in between two cars and was bumped but was not seriously injured. Well, the girl's mother now tells us that it was not just a tap, and her daughter was picked up by an ambulance and spent the night in the hospital.

She says her daughter did not run in between the cars and was standing in plain sight. She also says her son suffered from scratches on his face after getting hit by the back wheel of an SUV.

EPISD told us today that they gave us the information they received in the police report. We have requested a copy of that report and will have more details for you tonight at 5, 6, and 10 p.m.

People need to slow down in the school zones and at schools period. There have been many close calls by parents rushing to pick up their kids and not paying attention to what they are doing. This mother has every right to be irate and upset. Would you not be if it was your child? We should all be looking out for our childrens saftey. The schools need to have more monitors out in the morinings and after school.
