"Most Wanted" local Azteca gang member arrested in California
Corona, CA — Ricco Leo Torres, 33, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and Barrio Azteca gang member, is now in custody after being arrested on Tuesday in California. Torres was wanted for felony manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, and he has a violent criminal history, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 13 arrests since 1997.
A series of tips received by El Paso Crime Stoppers led investigators to Corona, Calif., where Torres was arrested by a California-based U.S. Marshals Service Task Force. Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division assisted in the arrest. The arrest was the result of a tip, and a reward up to $10,000 will be paid. So far in 2013, DPS and other agencies have arrested 20 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including eight gang members, and $44,000 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests. The cash rewards are funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.
Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in four different ways:
• Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
• Text the letters DPS – followed by your tip – to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
• Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
• Submit a Facebook tip at http://www.facebook.com/texas10mostwanted by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).
