EL PASO - El Paso Police charged 16 people with DWI between New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and no one was killed in a drunk driving crash on Saturday night.

Just days before New Year's Eve, a crash blamed on a suspected drunk driver claimed the lives of two women. The accident raised awareness of DWI around the holidays, and El Paso Police vowed to stop drunk drivers on New Year's Eve with a "No Refusal Operation." That's where a judge is on hand to sign a warrant that allows officers to obtain a blood sample from a driver refusing a breath test.

Within 28-hours, officers charged 16 people with DWI, and no one was killed on El Paso roads overnight.

Im glad to see that the police department was busy cracking down on drunk drivers this New Year`s, but while they were on a planned night , My wife and I were attacked and beaten by at least five individuals who took our jewlery, money and camera outside of a east side bar. after the initial call was made, My wife and i waited for at least 30 minutes before the police arrived to fill out a report. By then the attackers wich hung around to beat us for a second time left with our belogings.
