ANTHONY, TX - More than 100 needy families in the Borderland got some help today, from the Anthony, TX Police Dept.

Officers get together every month to distribute boxes of food to needy families. Last month, about 120 families were served; today, 135 families each received a box of food.

"We're grateful they they're giving us this food because in this time of need everybody needs whatever they can," said Amanda Lucero, who received food today.

"There's a need here. We, as the police department, saw that need and wanted to take care of that need,” said officer Michael Saavedra, from the Anthony Police Dept.

The Anthony Police Dept. was able to gather food with the help of local businesses and schools. They said that
needy families all over El Paso are welcome to attend next month's giveaway.
