EL PASO - Higher gas prices are hitting El Pasoans right where it hurts - the wallet.

Prices at the pump have topped three dollars a gallon and are climbing.

We talked to several El Pasoans who do not like what they see at the pump.

"I'm not happy with the gas increasing but I still need to use my car."

"I think in part at least the petroleum industry is taking advantage of the turmoil in many of the middle eastern countries to raise their prices."

"As far as gas prices go, it's taking a toll. I'm afraid to look at my credit card bill."

Gas prices in El Paso are still 13 cents lower than the national average.

There has not been any shut downs at the Suez Canel or the pipeline that runs along side it. No major Oil fields have been adversely effected by the turmoil in the middle east, but the Gas and Oil speculators are raising the price of a barrel of oil. We see the result at the gas pump with higher prices and the petroleum industry will see and enjoy huge profits at the end of the year. I hope a oil tanker does not run aground...raise it 5 cents...or a fuel truck pops a tire...raise it 2 cents.
