Battery powered device turns data stream into Wi-Fi hotspot...
These days, we live in a mobile society.
And with a new gizmo just released, those who want to be connected to the internet everywhere they go are able to take their own Wi-Fi network with them.
It's called the Novatel MiFi 2200 and it's offered by Verizon Wireless as an intelligent mobile hotspot, a gadget not much bigger than a credit card that can wirelessly connect up to five devices to the internet at broadband speed.
It's battery lasts about 4 hours before needing a recharge, but it can also be run off ac or powered by your computer.
Turn it on, and if the green connect button shines, it's transmitting a so called Wi-Fi cloud, turning wherever you are Indoors or outdoors… into an instant wireless hotspot.
It works with computers, Wi-Fi capable mobile phones, gaming devices and most anything else that accesses the internet.
It runs at broadband speed and is able to access the internet, send and receive files, handle e-mail and surf the web…
It cost about a hundred bucks with monthly data plans starting at around $40.
Right now, it only works with Verizon, though sprint will reportedly soon be offering it.
