Major General Dana Pittard is scheduled to leave Fort Bliss in May.  The change of command ceremony is scheduled on May 23, 2013.

His next assignment will be working with the office of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command at Fort Eustis in Virginia.  Pittard said he did not know how long he would be there, but addressed rumors that he would be retiring after that duty station.

"I might, I might. We haven't really fully decided yet," said Pittard.

Pittard came to Fort Bliss in 2011, and has remained longer than the usual two years.

Pittard will be replaced by General Sean MacFarland,  the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (DCOS-OPS), International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
