A native El Pasoan, will be awarded the Purple Heart by Maj. Gen. Dana J H Pittard, commander of the 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss.

Staff Sergeant Juan Carbajal, will be honored tomorrow afternoon after sustaining a Traumatic Brain Injury from an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Iraq. 

The event will occur Tuesday at 2 p.m. inside the 4th Brigade, 1st Armored Division Headquarters Building #20400 on East Fort Bliss. 

The Purple Heart, is awarded to those wounded or killed as a result of engaging the enemy while serving in the U.S. military.
