Smoke Pup Barbarian was ready to get out of his crate.

Being out of Afghanistan and so close to Donny Eslinger, who used to carry Smoke Pup in his pack, is a thrill for Donny's dad.

Donny first got Smoke in Afghanistan by trading three cigarettes to become the dog's owner, hence Smoke's name.

Donny Eslinger is recovering at a hospital in Florida after leaving Afghanistan from being critically wounded in a mortar attack.

When he came back, Smoke was left behind, but a donation-funded group called Puppy Rescue Mission made a reunion possible.

Donny's recovery has been miraculous.

Having Smoke in the family should help Donny's recovery even more.
