The NBC Affiliate in Raleigh, NC is reporting that the helicopter crash outside of Orogrande, NM on Saturday night claimed the life of a Sergeant stationed at Fort Bragg.

The CH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed at approximately 8:15 p.m. Saturday night. Fort Bliss spokesperson, Lt. Colonel Lee Peters says that the aircraft and crew are with the 82nd Airborne Division.

They came to Fort Bliss for high-altitude, mountain training - similar to environments they may face while deployed to Afghanistan.

"In order to maintain their combat readiness, other U.S. Army military units, U.S. military services and coalition nations routinely use Fort Bliss to conduct aerial and ground training due to its vast and varying training areas and environments," said Peters.

NBC Affiliate, WNCN identified the soldier killed as Sgt. Dwight Burn. The other three crew members on board are believed to have survived the crash in the remote New Mexico desert.

According to Burn's Facebook page, he is a native of Belize, but went to high school in Barstow, California.

The Army has not yet identified the other three people who were on board at the time of the crash.
