Michigan man sentenced for EPISD fraud scheme
El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — A Michigan man is headed to prison for trying to defraud the El Paso Independent School District out of almost $3 million.
61 year-old Gary Lange will spend two years in a federal prison. The Haslett, Michigan man pleaded guilty to several charges in 2009, after admitting that from 2003 to 2007 he and his business partner paid $105,000 in bribes to former EPISD Associate Superintendent Tomas Gabaldon and former EPISD trustee Sal Mena to secure a contract to provide software to special education departments in the district.
Gabaldon has already been sentenced to four years in prison for his role in the scheme and Mena will be sentenced on December 10th.
