Mexican journalist granted political asylum
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — It's been a tough road for one Mexican journalist who lost his father, wife and son.
Miguel Angel Lopez Solana, fled Mexico in May of 2012.
His father, Journalist Miguel Angel Lopez Velasco, Solana's wife and son were gunned down and killed in their home.
On Thursday, the photojournalist from Veracruz was granted political asylum in the United States.
This case marks the first time that the Mexico City based Committee to Protect Journalists assists a Mexican journalist in obtaining political asylum in the US.
Solana's attorney Carlos Spector, will be releasing more details on Friday.
