EL PASO -- The annual Mexican Food Cook-off is expected to bring in thousands of people to it's new location at San Jacinto Plaza in Downtown El Paso Saturday evening.

16 restaurants and chefs are preparing their signature dishes all in hopes of being the best in El Paso.

The competition will be based on three different dishes.

Judges will choose the best tacos, enchiladas, and an open dish of the chef's choosing.

For vendors it's a great experience to showcase their food to so many people.

"The public has been very good to us and we want to give something back," said Roldan Chavez, owner of Avila's Restaurant.

On top of the food, there will also be mariachi bands performing throughout the night and folklorico dancers competing as well.

I attened this so called "pseudo" mexican cook-off. What a poorly organized event that was. Where was the Mexican food? Sure there was a cook-off but where was this great food? I didn't, couldn't, tried, was starving for some kick butt Mexican food and only bought a bottle of water! There were at best 4 vendors sellling Mexican food and one ran out of food before 7PM and the lines were horribly long. The line for pizza, turkey leg, watered down nachos were short for a reason, we wanted Mexican!
