In Mexico this morning, one of the country's most wanted drug traffickers has been killed.

The Mexican Navy says Arturo Beltran Leyva was killed during a gunfight last night.

Beltran Leyva was the head of a cartel of the same name he ran with his four brothers.

The drug lord was killed in a luxury residential complex in Cuernavaca.

In a statement, the navy said Beltran Leyva died along with four of his body guards.

Many consider his death a victory for Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his war on drugs.
