Parents and families learned about a new school almost 1,000 students will go to next school year.
It's a combination elemenary and middle school in the Socorro Independent School District.  They'll be called SSG. Manuel R. Puentes Middle School and James P. Butler Elementary School.

School officials say about 900 people attended the meeting.
Parents listened to a presentation and then had a chance to ask questions.
the school is being built to help with overcrowding at current schools.

"One teacher to 30 children is not very successful for kids to get that education that's needed and if teacher has more time for less children, then it's going to be more effective," said parent, Nermina Jordan.

The school will be below capacity to begin, but school officials anticipate it will fill quickly because of growth on the east side of El Paso.
