More information was available about an inmate at the Dona Ana County detention center, who died earlier this month.

The autopsy confirms that Hermillo Salcedo died from choking on an object. As we reported, prison guards found a bag of drugs in Salcedo's body cavity.

They say when they went to get the drugs, the 57-year-old swallowed the bag and choked.

The medical investigator's report lists the death as "accidental," and the cause of death as "choking."

The full autopsy report, and toxicology results, will not be available for at least another three months.
