McGregor Range shell explosion sends 2 to hospital

A shell explosion on the training range north of Fort Bliss sends two people to a local hospital.

According to Ft. Bliss officials, the shell exploded at a training area on McGregor Range Thursday evening. Two civilians were transported to University Medical Center. The extent of their injuries and their current conditions are unknown at this time

Post spokesman Major Joe Buccino tells NewsChannel 9 that Military Law enforcement is investigating the incident.

Note: In an earlier version of this story, those injured were reported to be civilian workers. This has been corrected.

They were not civilian workers

Most likely unexploded ordnance (UXO) from long ago. Walking arouns former impach areas is dangerous.
