Mayor John Cook said the ordinance City Council members passed regarding billboards in El Paso will be vetoed. The ordinance would've banned new billboards within city limits and a few miles out. It also would have limited the number of digital billboards.
Mayor Cook will introduce a different ordinance that would increase the number of digital billboards to 30. But for every one of those, five existing billboards will be taken down. Cook believes this will help reduce billboard clutter in El Paso. The mayor's proposal is set to be discussed at a City Council meeting before the end of the month.
