The city of El Paso's lawsuit against the Attorney General may soon come to a close. On Tuesday, the Mayor requested the City Attorney to bring this matter to a close quickly.

The lawsuit has already racked up a $7,000 bill and may increase if the matter is not closed soon. As we've reported. The city of El Paso has filed a suit against the Texas Attorney General challenging an open records request. That open records request was filed by local attorneys and media personnel in an attempt to get a hold of personal emails by various members of city council.

The city attorney has said she needs another few weeks to bring this matter to a close. The issue will be addressed in the beginning of August.

The city should end this dumb idea of a lawsuit NOW. It was a very bad idea to of started it, it is a very good idea to end it. Politicians that don't want the public to know what they are saying & doing should get out of working for the public. A lot of politicians talk about transparency but I have yet to meet one that honors that concept. Let us hope that our current mayor and council will learn to do so FAST.
