Maya Angelou hospitalized, Jane Seymour to fill at 2014 El Paso Children's Hospital Gala
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Dr. Maya Angelou, was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at this years El Paso Children’s Hospital’s 2014 Milagro Gala but she has been hospitalized.
“We have received news that Dr. Maya Angelou has been hospitalized and will not be able to travel to deliver her speech at the Gala to benefit el Paso Children’s Hospital,” said Dennece Knight, Executive Director of El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Jane Seymour will take her place at this years gala.
Seymour is well remembered as Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. She is the mother of twins and author of a line of children books.
She created the Open Hearts Foundation with her Open Hearts line of jewelry.
“Obviously we are all hugely disappointed but it is one of those things out of our control. We are sending our best wishes for a speedy recovery. Dr. angelou and we are very grateful to Ms. Seymour’s assistance at the last minute”, said Ms. Knight.
Proceeds from this year’s event benefit Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery program at El Paso Children’s.
Almost 1200 people are expected to attend.
