Releases Exclusive Statement To NewsChannel Nine
Last night, Gloria Marmolejo's brother Mark Huerta called to give us a statement on the family's behalf.
It's a story you'll see only on NewsChannel Nine.
In it, he says, quote: "We know David has been charged with the murder of his mother and my sister. This recent event has dealt a second blow to our family."
"We appreciate all the work the El Paso Police Department has done in this. We pray that their work results in the conviction of the person or persons involved in the murder of Gloria."
"We are also concerned about David's safety and the fairness of the case against him. We know and have no doubt that David loved his mother, and he was loved by his mother likewise. We respectfully request the media and justice system treat him fairly and as our justice system states, he is innocent until proven otherwise. David has a right to due process."
"We'd also like to thanks the El Paso community for their support in these difficult times."
This comes less than a day after Police made another arrest in the case.
40 year-old Michael Thompson is accused of intentionally giving David a ride to elude Police.
Unmarked Police units were following David and arrested Michael on Friday.
54 year-old Gloria Marmolejo was killed in late July. INvestigators say she was brutally strangled.
David remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
