Manhunt Monday Fugitive Arrested
EL PASO – A fugitive was arrested after he unsuccessfully tried to turn himself in to authorities when he saw himself on television as the subject of the Sheriff's Office Manhunt Monday, said a spokesperson for the office.
On Monday, 17-year-old Vincent Escobar tired to turn himself in at the El Paso County Detention Facility, but there were no deputies in the facility to book him. Instead of waiting for some to arrive, investigators say Escobar walked out.
He was arrested the next day, on Tuesday, after being seen at the El Paso Community College.
Escobar was wanted on an assault warrant for family violence.
The Sheriff's Office says it's investigating why Escobar was not arrested when he tried to turn himself in.
