The Man Of The Year Goes To Obama
The selection of President Barack Obama as the 2012 TIME magazine Person of the Year cover was announced live on NBC's TODAY Show by managing editor Rick Stengel.
The publication cites Mr. Obama's accomplishment in becoming the first Democrat since Franklin Delano Roosevelt to win consecutive presidential elections with more than 50% of the vote.
Time's editor says Obama's Presidency marks the end of the political realignment initiated over 30 years ago by Ronald Reagan.
Time says President Obama is both author and symbol of broad cultural and demographic changes that are redefining American politics.
