Man Stabs Store Clerk in Face, Clavicle and Thumb During Robbery
EL PASO - Police have identified the suspect who stabbed a convenience store clerk in west El Paso Wednesday.
Police charged Miguel Saldana, 44, with aggravated robbery. According to police, Saldana stabbed a 63-year-old male clerk in the face, clavicle and thumb. It happened at the Valero gas station at 6040 N. Mesa near Balboa at approximately 6:15 p.m.
Saldana was reportedly stealing items from the store when the clerk yelled at him to stop. Before exiting the store, police said Saldana went behind the counter and attacked the clerk with a knife. Saldana left the store before officers arrived, but police arrested him a short time later.
Police say Saldana also had two outstanding warrants for assault family violence and criminal mischief.
The store clerk was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
