Man shoots girlfriend after allegedly attacking him with knives
EL PASO — A woman was shot by her boyfriend Saturday night after she allegedly attacked him with knives during an argument at a Central El Paso home.
According to police, a 52-year-old woman was shot once in the arm by her 57-year-old boyfriend after she broke through a door and charged at him with two kitchen knives at a home on 1200 Raynolds at 9:30 p.m
"I heard a lot of commotion, screaming and right away the cops started coming in," said Irma Hepp, an area resident.
Police said they spoke with both people and found the woman and man were arguing escalating to the woman biting the man's hand and punching him in the face.
Investigators determined the man at some point locked himself in a bedroom where he had a gun.
They said he heard what sounded like the woman taking a knife out of a wooden block they had in the kitchen with several knives.
The woman then broke through the door and charged at him with two large knives, according to police.
Investigators determined the man shot the woman in the arm in self-defense.
The woman was transported to University Medical Center for treatment of what were reported to be non-life threatening injuries.
Charges are pending against the woman in this case.
