EL PASO – A 22-year-old man was rushed to University Medical Center after he nearly drowned in an East El Paso pool.

Police say he was swimming with friends at a pool in an apartment complex at 7900 Viscount just before 6:30 a.m on Sunday.

At one point, the man's friends noticed him floating in the water, then pulled him out and started CPR.

Investigators say no one in the group could swim very well.

Was he actually swimming in the pool or just splashing around? I don't know but if you're gonna get in a pool with a deep end, one with water that can cover your head while standing up, then maybe knowing how to swim should be a prerequisite.
