EL PASO--- NewsChannel 9 has learned the identity of the motorcyclist killed in Central El Paso Sunday.
Sergio Hernandez, 37, goes on Sunday bike runs often to raise money for fallen riders, said Caroline Camfield, a fellow friend and rider.
Sunday, Hernandez was driving ahead of the group when three large rocks in the road reportedly forced him to lose control of his bike, said Camfield.
Hernandez hit the curb, and his bike landed on his head, said police.
He was not wearing a helmet.
But Camfield blames the debris.
"It impeded us from being able to give him aid because we were all almost falling down because we couldn't even stand on those rocks," she said. "Those rocks are extremely dangerous and there needs to be something done about that."
Hernandez died on the way to the hospital.
Police contend his death could have been prevented if he were wearing a helmet.
This is the second motorcycle fatality of 2010, as compared to one at this same time last year, said police.
