Speed, alcohol and failure to wear seatbelts contributing factors

El Paso Police have identified the man killed in an east El Paso rollover crash just after midnight Monday morning as 21-year-old Jesus Medina III. The other person in the vehicle has now been identified by police as 21-year-old David Anthony Moreno.

EPPD say  a 1984 Nissan 300ZX was traveling east on Spur 601 when the driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to exit at Global Reach/Old Ironsides. Medina was ejected from the Nissan at the scene, and Moreno was partially ejected.

Moreno was taken to University Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Police believe that speed and alcohol were factors in this crash. Neither Medina or Moreno were wearing seatbelts. Police are still uncertain who was driving the Nissan at the time of the crash, however they say they will continue to investigate.

Police say this is the 51st related traffic related death in El Paso compared with 56 at this time last year.
