Man Identified in Deadly Train Accident
EL PASO — Police identified the man hit and killed by a train in Socorro over the Aug. 11 weekend.
as 21-year-old Jose Alfredo Rangel Jr.
They said Rangel was sitting on the train tracks at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday near Bauman and Middle Drain Streets.
According to police, the train conductor stopped immediately after noticing the train hit something. They were unable to identify Rangel at the scene because his injuries were so severe.
Investigators believe he had been drinking before the accident.
