EL PASO - A man is dead after being stabbed in the stomach during a fight in a Lower Valley home Friday night.

The El Paso Police Department said the fight started just after 10:00p.m. inside a home on the 200 block of Maravilla Drive. They said 21-year-old Ruben Canales and 39-year-old Gerardo Juarez got into a verbal argument.

Investigators said the fight escalated and Canales grabbed a kitchen knife. There was a brief struggle that ended when police say Canales stabbed Juarez in the stomach.

Juarez was rushed to Del Sol Medical Center where he later died.

Police haven't been able to confirm if both Juarez and Canales live in the home.

Juarez is from Juarez, Mexico and Canales has an address in El Paso, but it's different than where the murder occurred.

This is the fourth murder in El Paso compared to five this time last year.
