UPDATE: 10:08 am  A police report on the officer involved shooting on the UTEP campus shows that the police officer who fired his gun was "in fear for his life." The report adds that the suspect, Elie Assaad, "provided a statement implicating his involvement."

EL PASO - Police have released a picture of Elie Assaad, a man charged with aggravated assault on a public servant on the UTEP campus yesterday.

Assaad is accused of leading police on a high speed chase that led to a rollover and an officer involved shooting.

Police say an officer tried to pull over Assaad's SUV around four yesterday morning but instead of stopping, Assaad drove off.

The officer chased him but after hitting a light pole, Assaad put the car in reverse and rammed the officer and his car.

The officer fired two rounds at the SUV as it drove onto the UTEP campus.

A woman in the SUV jumped out and was taken into custody.

No one was seriously hurt.

Assaad remains in jail on a $25,000 bond.
