EL PASO- An El Paso man was arrested today on perjury charges after he claimed police mistreated him. However, recorded evidence shows the EPPD offices acted within his duties.
Police say Gabriel Loya, 21, was stopped for speeding while driving on I-10. That same day Loya met with investigators from EPPD and filed a formal complaint against the officer who had conducted the traffic stop. Loya said the officer told him to shut up, and then made threatening and intimidating comments regarding Loya’s sexual orientation.
Little did Loya know, the entire traffic stop was recorded on the officer’s dash camera. Investigators say Loya’s claims didn’t match the audio on the tape and he was arrested today on perjury charges for formally filing a false complaint. He is booked into the El Paso County Jail on a bond of $400.00.
