Man arrested in Mesilla bar stabbing
LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Doña Ana County Sheriff’s arrested a Las Cruces man after he is believed to have stabbed another man outside a Mesilla bar Wednesday.
Sheriff's investigators said a group of men were reportedly drinking at Palacio Bar on Avenida de Mesilla when according to witnesses, another group of men entered the bar and got in a verbal argument.
The men reportedly went outside and got in a fight.
Court documents allege Gregorio Uranga, 31, grabbed one of the men and wrestled him to the ground.
The 35-year-old victim told investigators everyone involved got in their vehicles and left the scene shortly after the fight broke up.
A few minutes later the victim reportedly had a hard time breathing and realized he had been stabbed.
The man was taken to a Las Cruces hospital where he was treated for two stab wounds and a punctured lung, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Uranga has been with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon is being held on a $10,000 surety bond.
Investigators would still like to talk with witnesses who were at the Palacio Bar Wednesday night.
