Former Fort Bliss Commander will serve as Dep. Commanding General, U.S. Army Central/Third U.S. Army, Kuwait

Maj. Gen. Dana Pittard has been selected by the Department of Defense to
serve as the Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Central/Third U.S. Army,
Kuwait.

"A lot of us on Fort Bliss are excited for Major General Pittard. I was
certainly excited to hear that Major General Pittard was selected for what
is one of the most important General Officers positions in our Army. Having
served as his public affairs officer, I would absolutely look for an
opportunity to work for him again. This is exciting news for those of us
that worked for and support him. This is an important position in our force
right now. Major General Pittard will serve as the deputy Commander for the
Army Component for U.S. Central Command, which has responsibility for the
Middle East, the Central Asian States, and the Horn of Africa. This is a
very unstable, dangerous part of the world, a region which includes
Afghanistan, Jordan, and Syria, a region in which new threats to our nation
and its interests are emerging. General Pittard will serve as a forward
deployed deputy Commander. Many of us here would certainly look forward to
an opportunity to work for him again."
