Las Cruces Police arrested two young men suspected of committing the May 6 armed robbery of a west Picacho Avenue convenience store.

Pablo Andres “Andy” Soto Jr., 19, and a teenager are charged with one count each of armed robbery, conspiracy and tampering with evidence. Soto also faces one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, May 6, a young man walked into the Circle K store at 617 W. Picacho Ave. and used a large knife or machete to threaten an employee. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

Detectives learned that Soto and the teen conspired to commit the crime. Detectives discovered that Soto drove the pair to an area near the Circle K store and Cowan is the one who actually walked in and committed the armed robbery.

Both are being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
