Los Angeles Council Approves

First New York City banned trans fats and giant sodas. Now Los Angeles is encouraging "Meatless Mondays." The Los Angeles City Council has adopted a resolution encouraging its residents to go vegetarian on Mondays. This is not law. It's all on a voluntary basis. Council members say the plan is to help reduce intake of saturated fats. The American Meat Institute has responded in a statement saying, "if the sponsors of the Meatless Mondays campaign were truly concerned about nutrition, they'd host 'more veggie Mondays'. Instead, they target for reduction a food that is already consumed in the proper amount, and that is simply irresponsible."
