Lochte Talks Phelps Retirement
LONDON — As the swimming competition in London comes to a close, Ryan Lochte has emerged as a bona-fide super-star.
He's earned two golds, two silvers and a bronze medal.
CNN sat down with Lochte and asked him about his long-running rivalry with U-S-A teammate Michael Phelps.
"It's definitely gonna go down in history as one of the greatest rivalries in the sport of swimming, and I'm happy to be a part of it. Um, he's a great friend. I've been racing against him for eight years and I'm definitely going to miss him. It's definitely going to be weird, going up to the blocks and racing and not having him there. It's definitely going to be weird but what he's done for the sport of swimming, he's changed it. And he's definitely going to be missed," said Lochte.
Phelps has become the most decorated Olympian of all time--
He has won 22 total medals over four Games: 18 golds, two silvers and two bronzes.
