Fred Wilson gate at Beaumont reopened by Military Police

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - UPDATE: 

Fort Bliss Military Police have cleared the scene at William Beaumont Army Medical Center.  Just before 1 p.m., investigators were called in to investigate a possible suspicious package. The Fred Wilson Gate at WBAMC was temporarily closed, but was reopened to the public by 1:30 p.m. after police determined there was no threat to the public.  

EARLIER: 

Fort Bliss Military Police have temporarily closed access to William Beaumont Medical Center due to the discovery of a suspicious package.

The closure happened just before 1 p.m. at the Fred Wilson gate to Beaumont. MP's are on scene and directing traffic to the Alabama access point.

In an alert sent to staff at Beaumont, officials advised the public to be patient while accessing Beaumont due to the fact that there is only one access point available at this time.

Individuals who have scheduled appointments at the VA or Beaumont are encouraged to give yourself extra time to access WBAMC.
