EPPD unable to identify victim in Tuesday crash

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - El Paso Police have yet to identify the man who was killed in an early morning crash in the Lower Valley early Tuesday morning.

The crash happened just before 3 a.m. at the sharp turn where San Jose Road becomes Carpenter Drive. Police say the driver of a red 2016 Dodge Dart was speeding when he failed to negotiate the sharp curve and slammed into a concrete wall along the curve.

The man died at the scene.

EPPD's Special Traffic Investigation Unit say speed is the primary contributing factor to the deadly crash. The identity of the driver is pending formal autopsy, according to police.

This is the 10th traffic death of 2018 compared to 12 at this time in 2017.
